Get Creative with 3D Printing!
I love technology. Well, I love 3D printing technology although as I point out many times throughout my website, I’m no expert. In fact, one of the reasons I decided to put together what you see before you today isn’t just so people who really know what they’re “talking” about can find out more on various 3D printers they might be interested in, but also to help those of you who are new to these wondrous “gadgets”.
In this review I’m going to tell about the FlashForge 3D Printer but this isn’t the original model, it’s the Creator X which is the latest one from this manufacturer and they sure have made some improvements worth mentioning. Before I get started with what you can expect from this machine, you should know it’s great for all sorts of little projects around the home or workshop.
I don’t want to bore you so let’s get straight into the review!
This is one improvement that really has made a difference because unlike the last model from FlashForge, this 3D printer has a an enclosed metal frame which helps to stop heat from escaping and it also helps with reduction in overall noise when you’re printing.
The chassis is made from steel making it a pretty sturdy printer and when you’re using it at high speeds there isn’t much in the way of shaking which can be a problem with other models, especially if you intend to use it a lot.
Another handy feature I like with the design is the blue LED lights that actually look pretty cool, and allows you to see what’s going on as your creation prints before your eyes.
The Heating Plate
Now, I’ve done enough research to know the heating plate can be an issue for a lot of people, but in my opinion the team behind the construction of this 3D printer have really thought about it. For a start, the plate is a massive 6.3mm thick which not only makes it sturdier, but reduces the amount of warping that can happen when you’re printing.
It’ also made from heat resistant aluminum which again, helps you to produce the right results much better than some other models out there. In addition, the manufacturer has also added corner fittings so the Y axis transmissions are more secure and it keeps them straight.
The dual extruder! Wow, this is really something for me (sad, but true). This machine allows you to print using ABS, PLA but do bear in mind you will get better results if it’s no more than 1.75mm thick. However, what I do like is the fact you can print in two colors at the same-time (due to the dual extruder) which means you can get as creative as you like!
The manufacturer has also included a 4GB SD card which contains the manual, the software you will need and plenty of designs if you’re stuck for ideas. Although you should be aware the card does sit pretty close to the print area, so it’s wise to make sure you keep an eye on any debris that might get in the way.
If you’re someone who is new to 3D printing or even if you consider yourself to be an intermediate, I think this is a great 3D printer for various projects that tend to be on the more creative side.
